Stories / Gallery: Chad, the refugee camps.
Over 240,000 Sudanese refugees escaping the carnage in Darfur found shelter in neighboring Chad over the past 5 years. The majority of the refugees are children and young women. With little hope of returning to Darfur and totally dependent on foreign aid, the future of an entire generation seems bleak. Young women and girls in the refugee camps often fall victims to rape and assault.
“We want home, to Darfur” they implore, yet peace or stability are only a distant dream for these dessert
children.
